San Francisco

This past February I escaped the blowing snow of Michigan for the warm sun of the Golden Coast. This was my first visit to California and I honestly think I fell for the West Coast life. Everything seemed so laid-back and easygoing. What shocked me most was that people actually waited at a crosswalk if it said “don’t walk” – a far cry from the midwesterner’s hurry to cross the street. Seriously though, I couldn’t get over this!

As an added bonus, I was able to explore the great city of San Francisco with my oldest brother. Tasting the brews of many a local coffee shop, biking the Golden Gate, taking in the sunrise from the pier, and enjoying a (post) sunset picnic on the ocean together – yeah this is what vacation is supposed to be.

I’m pretty much decided that this is a necessary trip to repeat in the coming year.

Seeing the Mrs. Doubtfire house was one of the few items on my list of ‘have-to’ see places in San Francisco. I was pretty much raised with that movie. So glad I made it!

Otto

I’m an uncle. It’s amazing to see my brother become a father, and my sister-in-law become a mother. The love they have for this new little guy is a beautiful thing to witness. I was privileged enough to spend a long weekend with this small family in South Philly and took advantage of my time to capture these fleeting moments of Otto’s infant days. I can’t wait to watch him grow and continue to see my brother and sister develop as parents. Love this little guy!

Katie & Pete // engaged

#lovelansing. If you’re from the Lansing area and a frequent user of Twitter, I’m sure this hashtag is familiar to you. For those of you that don’t know, #lovelansing has grown to stand for the excitement and love that the people of Lansing, MI have for their great city. As I’ve lived in Lansing, I’ve stared to both see and experience this excitement more and more. I recently had the chance to spend the afternoon wandering around some landmarks of Lansing with Katie & Pete. I’ve somewhat known both of them for a few years, but it’s been great to get to know them better in the recent weeks, and it was super fun to wander around our great city together. Here’s a taste of Katie & Pete’s engagement photos, as well as a glimpse at our great city!
