To God & to the Lamb

Mar 19, 2015 //

Album art I created for one of Riverview Church’s bands, Ish. As it is a collection of old hymns with modern arrangements and interpretations, I decided to use a hymn lyric as the title for the project; “To God & To The Lamb.”

The image itself is meant to stand somewhere between a lamb and a lion. Time and time again, the gospels refer to Jesus being a lamb and a lion. There is both a gentleness and ferociousness that is united in one. The “wool” of this lamb is made up of angular and almost “sharp” shapes that contradict the idyllic softness of a lamb’s wool.

Oh Christmas Three

Mar 18, 2015 //

A branding piece I did for Riverview Church’s 2013 Christmas Eve service. The premise of the night was to look at three familiar Christmas objects and infuse new meaning into them. As such I decided to take a well-known lyric and tweak it just a bit so as to pull away from the familiar.

For telling the Christmas story, we used three face cut-outs with projected characters on stage. This continued the theme of “three” and gave a fun presentation of the traditional story.

Prone To Wander

Oct 18, 2013 //

I’ve always loved the wording of old hymns and the imagery they provoke. For my good friend Andrew’s wedding I decided to put some lyrics to paper with a bit of scripting. I love image of grace binding like a fetter (which are leg cuffs or shackles). In marriage, just as in life, there are going to be times where one spouse must look on the other with grace. It’s that forgiveness and acceptance that is what binds two together. I sketched out the rough shape in pencil and then used micron pens to flesh out the form.

Let that grace now like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

Come Thou Fount
